okay, so this is the prologue of a story i'm failing to write. like literally,
i've only written the prologue and one sentence of the first chapter. so i'm
doing awesome with that story. i really like the prologue though, i felt that
i used some great description and vocabulary words. so the story's title is kismet
and even though i have no idea where i'm going with it, i think it's a pretty
good idea. so yeah, the unveiling of the prologue for kismet!
Pushing past the kissing gates, and storming down the weathered pathway, Danny James breezed towards the back of the graveyard. She didn’t dare to think about what she was about to do. All she wanted was to get there. She turned around the second she reached the back and began pacing down the long row of gravestones. The ominous mood made her shiver as she trampled down on the grass, dead leaves whipping at her ankles. She looked around. It had to be here somewhere. How could she miss it? It was unmistakable, set in perfectly white marble with flowers and his picture resting by its side. And on it was the quote. The quote that meant the world to her. And then, out of nowhere, it appeared. Danny marched straight towards it, ignoring the biting winds and the flowers she trampled in her misery.
Her hand muffled the unexpected sobs that washed over her. The salty wet tears trickled down her cold cheeks as she crouched down on her knees, staring at the grave. The flowers had been removed, but the picture was still there gently resting against the cool marble stone. She her hands reached out for something in her pockets-she didn’t know what, when suddenly she found his beloved, worn leather bracelet, the one he had given her almost six months ago. She set them on the grave before she allowed herself to grab the picture. It was only taken a few weeks before his death, and it was quite possibly Danny’s favorite picture of him. She looked at his handsome face, remembering all of the times she teased him for being so good looking. She stroked his light brown hair, recalling its soft texture. She playfully touched the lips that she had kissed so many times. Did he know that his untimely death was so close? She tenderly put the picture back to its resting spot. It was just another sad reminder of his short life and how it was Danny’s mission to make everything right.
An unnatural gust of warm wind suddenly blew by, and Danny whipped around startled. The twins stood patiently behind her, their beautiful faces twisted in remorse. Danny looked down at the gravestone, and then back at the twins. Closing her eyes, she forced herself up and faced the two of them, looking directly at both of their remarkably blue eyes. Wordlessly, she reached for one of the shovels the twins carried. Gripping the iron handle, she jabbed the spade into the dirt and began digging. She never took her eyes off the headstone.
When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on for so long in the first place
so tell me what you think okay? it's pretty short, i know. oh and give me ideas for
what to write next. it's going to be five months before this event with the
gravestone, when the person that died was still alive. oh, here's the plot line too:
Danielle is sixteen and in love with her best friend and boyfriend of two years, David. They’ve been through the ups and downs together, from pre-school to high school. He was her first kiss, her first friend, her first love. Then a terrible accident occurs and Danielle finds herself cradling the last bits of his short lived life. Now Danielle must trek through life without David by her side. Then in sophomore year, twins Sam and Tracey come into their small town and everyone’s buzzing around with rumors. With a bubbly personality unlike the apathetic one the previous months, Danielle instantly befriends them. Little does she know their dark secret, and she finds herself in peril while she avenges David’s death. But through it all, Danielle finds herself falling faster and faster into love. Is David’s death accidental? Or is it just Kismet?
